Palisades Trip June 5, 2011

We had a great turn out for the trip - 14 birdwatchers including two from Minnesota.  The day was beautiful - no rain all day!!  We started out seeing the White-throated Swifts soaring around below the train trestles just east of I-90.  A pair of immature Red-tailed hawks were begging for food sitting on a utility line.  Everyone got a good view of those along with good views of Black-headed Grosbeaks, Gray Catbird, Calliope Hummingbird, Yellow Warblers, Eastern Kingbird, and American Goldfinches. The Western Wood-Pewee teased us with its song for quite a while before it was finally spotted perched on top of a Ponderosa Pine.   A complete list of birds seen and/or heard follows:
