Palisades Trip June 5, 2011
We had a great turn out for the trip - 14 birdwatchers including two from Minnesota. The day was beautiful - no rain all day!! We started out seeing the White-throated Swifts soaring around below the train trestles just east of I-90. A pair of immature Red-tailed hawks were begging for food sitting on a utility line. Everyone got a good view of those along with good views of Black-headed Grosbeaks, Gray Catbird, Calliope Hummingbird, Yellow Warblers, Eastern Kingbird, and American Goldfinches. The Western Wood-Pewee teased us with its song for quite a while before it was finally spotted perched on top of a Ponderosa Pine. A complete list of birds seen and/or heard follows:
